 Ma Copine Mélusine is the vision of owner, Mara Wolford. In becoming a mommy, she noticed every little girl’s attraction to sparkly, flowery girls wear and costumes: most of it linked to the commercialization of children’s cinema, and pumped out of cheap factories in China. Mara believed parents would appreciate a more wholesome choice to poor quality imports…so she started designing her own pieces.
Ma Copine Mélusine designs and produces handmade clothing and costumes of the highest quality available on the market today. Each of our lines is produced by women’s cooperatives in Bali, Indonesia. The women work from home, and production costs go directly into their hands (and towards their children’s academic fees) – not into the hand of a factory owner. This takes quite a bit of organization. It also means that our products are available in a limited supply. But every piece of Mélusine’s line exudes this “handmade with love and respect” aspect, and the trouble is worth it.
Ma Copine Mélusine believes that childhood fashion should be of the highest quality, to endure the worst your kid can dish out! It should be fashionable without imitating adult fashion: it should be bright, colorful, whimsical and fun! We believe is free spirits, imagination, creativity, inspiration, joyful exuberance and holding on to childhood as long as we can for little girls!
